Spiked Editor Brendan O’Neil says the behaviour of the police in the UK has been “staggering and hypocritical” as they’ve bowed down to Black Lives Matter protestors but used extreme force against those protesting the lockdowns.

“We now have a highly politicised police force,” Mr O’Neil told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Police officers in London took the knee to the Black Lives Matter protestors, they actually bowed down to them, they also allowed extinction rebellion protests to go ahead, but when there was this anti-lockdown priest in Trafalgar square at the weekend, they used extreme force.

“We saw riot police actually hitting people and throwing people off the streets and turning to prevent them from speaking. "This is now, it looks like, a police force that is woke, that is politically correct and will allow your protest to go ahead if it adheres to the outlook of the chattering classes. “But if it doesn’t, you’re in trouble, and they will throw you off the streets.”

Hotel quarantine fiasco an 'unprecedented failure of governance and accountability' | Sky News AustraliaHotel quarantine fiasco an 'unprecedented failure of governance and accountability' | Sky News AustraliaThe Australian’s Editor-at-Large Paul Kelly says Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews' performance at Friday’s hotel quarantine inquiry in many ways demonstrated an “unprecedented failure of governance and accountability”. \n\nMr Andrews testified that he had no expectation of support from the Australian Defence Force to run the hotel quarantine scheme. \n\nHowever, an examination of Mr Andrews' statements over the past six months by Sky News host Peta Credlin uncovered a statement in March where he stated categorically that he had been offered the use of Australian troops by the Prime Minister.\n\nLetters obtained by Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell also revealed Prime Minister Scott Morrison personally pressured Premier Andrews to accept ADF troop support on at least three separate occasions in July. \n\nMr Kelly told Sky News there is a 'closed circle in terms of the failure of the government and the failure of the Premier to properly explain to the people of Victoria what happened”.\n\n“We know with documentary evidence the details of the Morrison government’s offers to Victoria at both the political and bureaucratic level to get ADF support,' he said.\n\n“You would have thought that after the deaths of so many people, the hardship imposed on millions, the damage done to the Victorian economy, that we would have a leader in Victoria with the decency and sense of obligation to explain what happened.\n\n“Well we don’t have that. Instead we have the Health Minister quitting after the Premier held her accountable.\n\n“It is extraordinary that we now have a government that cannot explain itself and cannot explain its own ineptitude.' \n\n
