Monday morning will be hot, dry and sunny for most, with 39C possible in the South, but there will be a bit more cloud than recently.The afternoon will bring little change, although northern Scotland will see more sunshine.The highest ever temperature in the UK was 38.7C in 2019.Advice for staying safe in a heatwave
Sky News radio journalist Richard Newman said:"A surprising start to the day just outside Brighton & Hove, where we’ve been hit by a brief spell of rain – which was not forecast. "The south coast is not expected to reach the same temperatures as inner city areas, but it was a stifling night in Sussex and the sun’s now out – and it’s starting to heat up."The Met Office has forecast the capital could see highs of 38C when the heatwave sweeps across England today and tomorrow.
