Ukraine and Russian-backed forces in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region agreed to a prisoner swap on Monday that resulted in the release of more than 200 people who had been detained by the opposing force.

The Ukrainians secured the release of 108 women, both military and civilian, the president’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, said on social media. A dozen civilians were among the returning Ukrainians.“It was a very nerve-wracking exchange,” Yermak added.
