A Ukrainian MP, in a heartfelt message, has called on political leaders to unite at the upcoming NATO Summit amid speculation Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will not attend.
Speaking to Sky News Australia, Ms Rudyk detailed how she was feeling a year into the invasion of Ukraine and the one question she asks herself each day to keep moving forward.
“We need to make sure that we do everything as human beings, as politicians, as citizens of our country to fight for this freedom and win this freedom." “This is why we need every single hand, every single shoulder, every single political will to be united and make sure that we find a way to cooperate together."
Shadow foreign affairs minister Simon Birmingham said Mr Albanese's response to the invitation should be a"quick and fast yes" to signal Australia's openness to dialogue and to stand up against Russia. Mr Birmingham called on Mr Albanese to attend and defend a"rules-based order", as did Ukraine's Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko.
