I talked to old friends in Washington the other day to take a sounding of the political elite’s views regarding the endgame in Ukraine.They unanimously agreed the hawks had wrested complete control over the foreign policy establishment, and that the war in Ukraine had taken a back seat to preparations for the coming conflict with China .Moscow is seen more as a nuisance, while Kyiv is clearly a distraction.
