Russian police were photographed detaining people taking part in rallies in Moscow on Saturday - in response to Vladimir Putin's partial mobilisation.
It says it shot down four Shahed-136 drones and one Mohajer-6 drone with anti-aircraft guns in the south on Friday.The Ukrainian Air Force adds that a Mi-8 helicopter and Su-25 aircraft were shot down by anti-aircraft missiles in central Ukraine.Protests have taken place across Russia on Saturday in response to Vladimir Putin's decision to mobilise military reserves.
It is understood demonstrations are also taking place in St Petersburg, with further arrests reported in the area.Russian troops who refuse to fight, desert, disobey orders or surrender to Ukraine could now face up to 10 years in prison.It was approved earlier in the week by the Houses of Parliament.However, there have been widespread reports of Russian soldiers in Ukraine refusing to fight - or fleeing the country to avoid being called up.
"The Ukrainians have done particularly well over the last few weeks. Strategic success, the securing of Kharkiv in the north – operational success in Izyum." Earlier, it was reported queues of up to 10km were growing at one crossing point - amid fears Vladimir Putin could order a closure of the borders.
"In fact, they haven't for many months. Russia turned to their own telecoms provider after occupying these areas, so they've been receiving Russian media and that address from President Zelenskyy would not necessarily have reached them."
