A Ukrainian doctor and mum-of-three says she is preparing to leave behind her family to defend her country. 9News
"I am a doctor and a mum and now I need to leave my kids here at home together with cats, dogs … I need to go," Dr Yuzkiv said."I won't allow them to take our land and our freedom.Ukrainians have been training to defend their country against Russia. "I'm going where our commanders send us to ... and we will wait for orders from commanders," Dr Yuzkiv said.Dr Yuzkiv said she began taking lessons to defend her country in April last year.
"I still don't feel very well, but I know that I could do it … and I also did some tactical medicine training so I think I'm prepared, in the way that civil people could prepare."The mother said she wouldn't say she was scared but "nervous"."And you understand that your city is now under attack. "They prepared in one and two courses, they studied how to shoot, they studied how to support each other in paramedics, so I would say that morally people are ready," Dr Yuzkiv said.The doctor said her fellow citizens are united and are now concentrating on what they need to do.
