The Kremlin has hit back after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed he was unsure whether Vladimir Putin is 'still alive'.
The Ukrainian President revealed he did not know if his Russian counterpart was still"making decisions" as he addressed the World Economic Forum on Thursday.“I don’t quite understand if he is still alive,” Mr Zelensky said.Rumours have continued to circulate about President Putin's health after he cancelled his annual press conference for the first time in 10 years and disappeared from his customary dip into Russian waters for Orthodox Epiphany.
"It is likewise clear that purely psychologically, Mr Zelensky would prefer that neither Russia nor Putin ever existed. "The sooner the Ukrainian regime realises and comes to grips with the fact that both Russia and Putin do exist in reality and are not going anywhere, and that sooner or later it will have to give up everything anti-Russian, the better for Ukraine as a country.”
Putin was pictured in Saint Petersburg the day before Zelensky’s remarks and attended a meeting with Yury Borisov, director general of the Roscosmos State Space Corporation, on Thursday.Mr Peskov’s comments come as the international community continues to rally around Ukraine, with EU President Charles Michel visiting Mr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday. “We must spare no effort to turn this promise as fast as we can into a reality.
The European Union announced in June last year it granted Ukraine a candidate status membership within the union.I have one dream. I dream that one day a Ukrainian will hold my job as President of the European Council. Or as President of the European Parliament. Or President of the Commission.
