Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the ceasefire deal with Hamas cannot progress until Israel has received the list of hostages due to be released this weekend.

Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the ceasefire with Hamas will not proceed until the list of hostages to be released is received by Israel as the agreed upon time for the suspension of hostilities passes.

"We will be unable to move forward with the framework until we receive the list of the hostages who will be released, as was agreed,” Mr Netanyahu said.“Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. Hamas is solely responsible."Hamas on Sunday reportedly said it was committed to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, blaming “technical field reasons” for the delay in releasing the hostage names.

“As of this morning, Hamas is not fulfilling its obligations, and contrary to the agreement has not given Israel the names of the hostages ,” Mr Hagari said, according to the Times of Israel. A post to the IDF’s official X account at about 9:30am confirmed the military was continuing to strike “terrorist targets” in Gaza.

They remain apprehensive while awaiting concrete developments, emphasizing the need for care and consideration during this sensitive time. The families have endured numerous hopes raised and dashed since the October 7, 2023 attack, which saw their relatives captured by Hamas. Previous temporary ceasefire agreements led to the release of some hostages, but many remain captive. The families are urging the Israeli government to prioritize their loved ones' release and ensure no one is left behind. They met with Prime Minister Netanyahu, who assured them talks are progressing. The potential deal involves an initial release of 33 hostages and the freeing of up to 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, along with a partial Israeli troop withdrawal. However, concerns remain about far-right parties within Netanyahu's coalition, who oppose any agreement until Hamas is completely defeated.
