The Queensland Land Court has recommended the state government reject Clive Palmer’s proposal for a mega-coal mine in Central Queensland.

Ms Kingham’s ruling is only a recommendation to the Queensland government in its deliberations over whether to grant Mr Palmer’s company a mining lease and environmental authority.A spokesman for Queensland Resources Minister Scott Stewart said the government would “carefully consider” the recommendations from the Land Court., 500 kilometres west of Brisbane, for years.has developed assets in the region, which was long considered uneconomic because of the distance to export ports on the coast.

“This is a fantastic decision and it shows burning coal threatens our climate and contributes to extreme weather events. No matter where the coal is exported, it impacts on people’s human rights everywhere.”
