Texas pitcher Lucas Gordon and the Longhorns face another challenge on the road against Stanford in the Super Regionals.AUSTIN — Texas entered this season with the same lofty expectations this program has grown accustomed to. But internally, the Longhorns knew this could be a bumpier ride than in year’s past.
“It’s just the best time of the year for college baseball,” Pierce said Wednesday. “To be in the top 16 is a lot different than being in the top 64. You separate yourselves. And I told our guys after they won the regional, ‘You earned it. From Day 1 you earned it.’ “After that series, it was a tough week at practice,” Texas junior outfielder Dylan Campbell said. “It was like a reality check. We kind of stepped back and reassess where we were as a team. And moving forward, we took some of those feelings of embarrassment and used it to fuel us for the rest of the year.”
