Sky News Political Editor aclennell says a statement has been released by an 'unhappy' CFMEU about its decision to split from the left faction of Labor in Queensland.
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says a statement has been released by an "unhappy" CFMEU about its decision to split from the left faction of Labor in Queensland. Mr Clennell said the CFMEU statement said "the left factional leadership have consistently devoted far more energy to internal intrigues and power plays than to driving a policy platform that reflects both socially and economically progressive values".
"Here we go again, this kind of split in the Labor Party that Joel Fitzgibbon talked about and Anthony Albanese got so unhappy about," Mr Clennell said. "I guess this is another sign of that". He said this means the left no longer has the majority on the conference floor in Queensland, however, it "is also another sign of splits in Labor over mining".
