After rejecting the latest contract offer from the Pittsburgh Pirates, union workers at PNC Park authorized a strike and plan on picketing the next home game on Thursday.
While there will be strikes inside PNC Park on Thursday during the Pirates next home game, there could also be striking workers outside on a picket line., which represents ushers, ticket takers and ticket sellers, rejected the latest contract offer from the baseball club and approved a strike.
Suggestions for signs include “Pay ‘Nutting’ Get ‘Nutting,’” a refrain echoed for several of the last few seasons by disgruntled Pirates fans in reference to team owner Bob Nutting.that it has a negotiating session scheduled with the team on Tuesday. The Pirates countered that ushers would start at $12.40 per hour this season under the team’s latest offer and be allowed to accept tips, while ticket sellers would earn $19 per hour and greeters would make $18.65 per hour.
