The University of Houston system announced they will no longer use DEI statements or factors in their hiring process following Governor Greg Abbott's memo making the initiatives illegal.

The policies and bill are in line with Governor Greg Abbott's memo to state agencies telling them to stop considering diversity when hiring. FOX 26's Chelsea Edwards reports more on the pause and responses from state leaders.

"The University of Houston System embraces diversity and understands and believes that it is our responsibility to foster an open, welcoming environment where students, faculty and staff of all backgrounds can collaboratively learn, work and serve," UH’s statement continued.
