Coldplay will head west for the first time in more than a decade for an Australian-exclusive concert the WA government is trumpeting as a “massive coup” for the state. 7NEWS

The November concert has been added to Coldplay’s Music of The Spheres world tour, which has sold more than six million tickets since it launched early last year. Thousands of international and domestic visitors are expected to head to Perth for the show, packing flights and hotel rooms in a major boost for WA tourism.

The show will be promoted nationally and in key international markets to capitalise on the sky-high interest in a band which broke concert ticket records in 2022.However neither WA’s premier nor its tourism minister will reveal how much taxpayers have forked out for the performance. “It will be great for industry because we’ll get so many people from elsewhere. These things are always confidential because we’re in competition with other states and other places,” Premier Mark McGowan said.“In 2022-23, we spent around $67 million on major events. Of that, we know we got a direct visitor spend of around about $125 million. So we’re essentially doubling our money,” he told
