Smith made five birdies in a row between the 10th and 14th holes, and also birdied the last, his 64 the lowest final round at the historic Old Course."It is unreal to look at the names on this trophy and then add mine," he said.Smith is the fifth Australian to win the historic championship, which this year celebrates its 150th edition. Peter Thomson , Greg Norman , Kel Nagle and Ian Baker-Finch have also lifted the historic Claret Jug.
"The putter went cold on me. When both Camerons — especially Smith — went on that run on the back nine, I had to dig deep to make birdies. And I just couldn't."
