Transport NSW said it was working to increase the number of school crossing supervisors to 300 statewide.Labor said about 3,400 "parents, teachers and residents" responded to its school-safety survey, which asked why people did not feel comfortable letting children walk or ride to class. Waverley resident Maria Moran said she had been trying to raise concerns about her local crossing for three years.

Are the military going to be in a position to arrest people? Are they going to have weapons? It’s a scary three or four days ahead. \n\n“Nothing any political leader seems to say stops these protests and stops the violence.”\n\nImage: AP
