Transport NSW said it was working to increase the number of school crossing supervisors to 300 statewide.Labor said about 3,400 "parents, teachers and residents" responded to its school-safety survey, which asked why people did not feel comfortable letting children walk or ride to class. Waverley resident Maria Moran said she had been trying to raise concerns about her local crossing for three years.
She said residents were "sick of the bureaucracy" between local councils and the State Government over who was responsible for maintaining the infrastructure.Transport for NSW said its school crossing supervisor program was "on track" with the rollout of the first 80 new supervisors.
