Israel has ignored warnings from friendly governments before. But the deaths of seven aid workers, including an Australian, might be an inflection point, Brett McLeod writes.
In the aftermath of October 7, Israel was embraced internationally in a way that may be unique in its history.that led to 1200 murders, more than 200 people taken hostage and an unknown number of sexual assaults that even former foes offered their support.A man displays blood-stained British, Polish, and Australian passports after an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah on Monday. Seven aid workers were killed.
But the deaths of seven aid workers, six of whom were foreign nationals of countries friendly to Israel, has become an inflection point. The quick response from the IDF made that much clear. If those killed by three successive IDF strikes had been solely Palestinian aid workers, would the outcome have been the same?

It was clear Israel's invasion of Gaza was beginning - but there wasn't a clear picture of how it would end.Netanyahu set two main objectives for the war: the complete destruction of Hamas, and freeing the hostages. While thousands of fighters have been killed, militants have continued to return to locations already cleared by the IDF, such as Al Shifa hospital. And almost all of those freed came out during the previous ceasefires.Benjamin Netanyahu is now isolated like never before.
