If you would like alerts on this and other ADOT news, sign up above to receive our GovDelivery notices.The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan for daytime lane restrictions on a 10-mile stretch of State Route 87 near Payson on Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, as crews remove trash along the roadway.
Drivers should be prepared to stop, proceed with caution and watch for maintenance personnel and equipment. Litter has a big impact on everyone in Arizona. In fact, litter removal along Arizona highways costs taxpayers more than $4 million each year. Discarding trash on the state’s highways is illegal and can result in a $500 fine. You can help reduce the amount of trash on state roadways by reporting litter you see tossed from cars and launched from truck beds by calling ADOT's 511 hotline.
