The highway was reopened between Sunset Falls and Skykomish at about 10 a.m. Saturday.
A reduced speed limit of 30 miles per hour will be in effect in the area as cleanup and firefighting efforts continue.
The closure began on Sept. 10 when the Bolt Creek wildfire erupted. Hundreds of trees were damaged and some fell onto the road or were close enough to the highway to pose a threat. Earlier this week, WSDOT said crews were working toward reopening on Monday, but it was determined that the roadway could reopen early after a daily post-fire corridor inspection on Saturday.
The Bolt Creek Fire, which has burned more than 10,000 acres, is now mostly contained, but WSDOT says it remains an “evolving situation.”
