Sky News understands the 64-year-old will fly into Sydney on July 22, before calling Canberra home.
She comes from American political royalty; her father was America's 35th President from 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. The new Ambassador takes up the position at a crucial time in the two allies' relationship, as they work to counter China's growing influence in the Pacific.
