US Could Deploy Thousands of Troops and Three Aircraft Carriers to the Middle East
US Troops, Aircraft Carriers, Middle East

Thousands of additional US troops and as many as three aircraft carriers could arrive in the Middle East by the end of October, creating an unusually large military presence amid tensions over Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

Thousands of US troops could be sent to the region with several aircraft carriers by the end of the month. When pressed by Time journalists, Trump continued: “I can’t tell you that because look, you know, you’re asking, where are you going to bomb?

”. Trump cited as an example an offer from Iran to “open up the Strait” of Hormuz but said the overall proposal was “not good enough”. That includes the thousands of recently deployed troops aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the USS Makin Island amphibious readiness group.

It could mean three carriers are in the region as early as the end of October, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military operations. That would be an unusually high US naval presence of more than 20,000 sailors and Marines and hundreds of aircraft. The USS Theodore Roosevelt will be one of three aircraft carriers which could reach the Middle East by the end of October.

The USS George HW Bush and the USS George Washington are there now, along with the USS Boxer amphibious readiness group.
