A letter bomb was discovered and safely defused at the United States Embassy in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday, marking the sixth explosive device to be sent to high-profile government targets in recent weeks.
The latest bomb was intercepted Thursday afternoon by the security post at the embassy, a police official said. The bomb was safely detonated in a controlled explosion and no injuries were reported.“We are grateful to Spanish law enforcement for their assistance with this matter,” Jamie Martin, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy, told CNN.
"What must be very clear is that none of these deliveries or any other violent action will change the clear and firm commitment of Spain, NATO countries, and the European Union to support Ukraine," Spain’s Defense Minister Margarita Robles said in a statement.
