The athletic gene runs deep in the Yastrzemski family.

But the two baseball players aren’t the only famous athletes in the family. A third member of the Yastrzemski clan could soon become a household name with the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. U.S. men’s national soccer team head coach Gregg Berhalter is Carl Yastrzemski’s godson and cousin, which makes him a distant cousin of Mike Yastrzemski as well.
. Years later, Berhalter could still recite some of Carl Yastrzemski’s greatest career achievements, including his Triple Crown in 1967. Berhalter also recalled Yastrzemski taking him on godfatherly activities like fishing expeditions and trips inside the dugout.
