The first day of spring is Sunday, but it already feels spring-like across the state.
The forecast calls for one storm in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night, and another on Sunday.Officially, the first day of spring is Sunday, but Utah’s weather will be spring-like all week. And that means temperatures bouncing up and down, rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains., it will be in the upper 50s — near 60 — on Tuesday in the Salt Lake City area. That’s ahead of a cold front that will move through the state later in the day.
There’s a slight chance rain will continue into Wednesday morning in northern Utah, but most of the storm will move into the central part of the state, where valleys may get a tenth of an inch. The storm could bring 2-6 inches of snow to Northern Utah mountains; 1-3 inches to central Utah mountains; and maybe an inch or so to southern Utah mountains.
Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler in Salt Lake City on Wednesday — in the upper 40s — as the last of the clouds move out. Then it’'ll be mostly sunny for several days, with a high of 50 on Thursday, 56 on Friday and 64 on Saturday. Another storm is expected late Saturday night. There’s a chance of showers, mostly after midnight and continuing into Sunday, when the forecast high is 52. A mix of rain and snow is possible Sunday night. There’s a slight chance of rain on Monday, when the high will be in the mid-40s.
In southern Utah, expect sunny skies through Saturday. In St. George, the forecast high is 73 on Tuesday, 70 on Wednesday, 68 on Thursday, 72 on Friday and 75 on Saturday. There’s a slight chance of rain on Sunday as temperatures dip to about 59. The sun will return on Monday, with a high of 60.
