As a result, the pair bootstrapped much of the pre-launch stage of the startup. The pair was able to fund the initial prototyping phase. During the beta test, women of different ages with different skin types were invited to provide feedback on the single-dose format of the vitamin C serum. Some beta testers wanted the product to be silicon-free, and the product is now silicon free.
