Pontiff, 88, who is suffering from respiratory infection, said to have spent ‘peaceful’ fourth night in hospital
Pope Francis spent a “peaceful” fourth night in hospital, before having breakfast and reading the newspapers on Tuesday, a Vatican spokesperson has said.
The update was announced soon after the Vatican said it had cancelled Francis’s commitments at the weekend due to his continued ill health.“Due to the health conditions of the Holy Father, the Jubilee audience of Saturday February 22 is cancelled,” the Vatican said in a statement, adding that the pontiff had also delegated a senior church figure to celebrate mass on Sunday morning.
