Vaughan Gething has been elected as the next Welsh Labour leader, succeeding Mark Drakeford, who has held the position since 2018.
Vaughan Gething is set to be the new First Minister of Wales. He's been picked as the next leader of Welsh Labour which will him the first black person to lead a European country.

He said: "Jeremy, the story that you have told, the example you have already set and the ideas that you have promoted in this campaign have already helped to change Wales for the better." Atlantic Recycling, a part of Dauson Environmental Group and managed by David Neal, donated £100,000 to Mr Gething on December 18 2023 and another £100,000 on January 11, 2024. The company was also fined £300,000 for a worker's death in February after admitting to breaking health and safety rules at work.
Mr Drakeford won't quit right away; his last time answering questions will be on March 19. There has to be a vote in the Senedd too, where other parties can try to pick their own leaders. Labour is the biggest party, so it's not likely that someone else will get the job.
