Students were able to highlight sections of materials uploaded to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority website that appeared to be blank, but revealed ‘hidden’ text when formatted in a new document.
Thousands of VCE students have had access to official exam questions because of a technical gaffe made by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority .
Cover pages are routinely made available to the public by the VCAA in the lead-up to exams. The documents are intended to indicate the structure, number of questions and length of time to complete the assessment – but not the content. “The sample material that was inadvertently included in the sample cover sheets in October was discovered before the first written exam commenced,” VCAA boss Kylie White said this morning on 3AW radio.
White said that to avoid any confusion, the material was removed from the VCAA website in October after the error was discovered.
