After worrying for months that they would be kicked out under a new owner, vendors at the shopping center have been given a short extension on their leases.
Vendors have said that the company was not clear about its plans for the building’s future use. While Novak owns the property, two separate companies lease out space to 150 vendors inside the mall.According to a Novak spokesperson, vendors have been given an extension on their leases until January 2023. After that, there’s going to be some type of month-to-month agreement.
“We are planning to make substantial improvements to the neglected property, including a new façade, a new roof, better parking, and other improvements. These investments will make a big difference on that stretch of 26th Street. Novak expects the work to start next year,” a statement from the company reads.
A representative for Novak also shut down rumors of a big box retail store taking over the mall and said Novak is in negotiations with the people who lease the building.
