Venus Williams was out practicing and hitting with the UW tennis team members.
Williams is in town as a special guest speaker at Amazon Accelerate, which is holding its third annual seller conference starting Wednesday.
Word got around fast about Williams holding court this afternoon and that drew a huge crowd of onlookers anxious to get a look at the sport’s great. “A friend texted me on social media and told me to run right away because Venus Williams is here. So, as a tennis fan, I got off from the library and came straight away to see Venus play,” UW student and tennis fan Emmanuel Mordi said.Williams was just at the U.S. Open earlier this month where she played singles and doubles with her sister Serena.
