A Vermont man who was living in a tent in the woods of New Hampshire has been found guilty of murdering a retired couple who were out for a walk.

After deliberating for a day and a half, a jury found Clegg guilty of second-degree murder in the April 2022 killings of Stephen and Djeswende Reid. who were out for a walk.The couple was walking on a trail near their Concord apartment.
Police said Clegg dragged their bodies into the woods and tried to cover them up before burning his tent and leaving Concord. Investigators eventually found and arrested him in South Burlington, Vermont with a one-way plane ticket to Berlin, Germany. He had a fake passport and a gun in his backpack, prosecutors said.: The Associated Press contributed to this report.
