Government agencies are hoping to cash in on the goodwill earned during the COVID-19 pandemic response to create further personalised digital services for citizens.
Government agencies are hoping to cash in on the goodwill earned during the COVID-19 pandemic response to create more personalised digital services, but concede they must gain a deeper level of trust from citizens and improved technical capability.
“We need services that are personalised, but that are also served with dignity,” Pia Andrews, a public sector transformation leader, told the panel. “So we needed to balance the sensitivity, usability and value while also preserving the trust equation as well.” “The bill will be quite important because it will accelerate and streamline existing services, and hopefully expand how we use government data and how it can be used by other agencies in a secure way.”
The panel agreed that properly secured customisation would breed trust and confidence, though Ms Hogan added that the large digital infrastructure projects being talked about now require time horizons longer than an election cycle.
