Australian Banking Association Chief Executive Officer Anna Bligh says some people hit with the “double whammy” of rising interest rates and a natural disaster will find this period “very hard”.
“I think sometimes for people this sort of experience can feel incredibly overwhelming and hopeless,” she said.
“What I can say is the best chance they’ve got of their bank helping them in a very practical way is if they talk to their bank early.”
