After 13 years working as a teacher in the San Antonio area, Belinda Medellin decided to impact the classroom in a different way. She created an online platform, Bmyvillage.com, to connect teachers with qualified and vetted mentors and professional development opportunities tailored to their needs.The coaching can be between teachers at any level, Medellin said, allowing those who might have many years of experience to also reach out to newer teachers with different skills and vice versa.

“I met other teachers of the year, and I was like, ‘I can connect you with this person,’” she recalled. So, after 13 years in the classroom, she switched her focus from helping students to helping the adults, so that “when they’re at their lowest, they’ll have somebody to pick them up, or even when they’re at their highest, someone to push them forward,” she said.
