Veteran WA Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan announces he is retiring from politics after 19 years, saying the time has come for young blood to freshen the ranks of the party.
West Australian Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan has announced he is retiring from politics at the next election.He will have served 20 years at the next state election in 2021The next state election will be held in March 2021.
"Two terms as Minister, with a whole series of different portfolios I've done over the years, and eight and a half years in opposition," he said.The seat of Cockburn, south of Perth, includes the suburbs of Beeliar, Cockburn Central, Coogee, Munster, South Lake, Spearwood, Success and Yangebup. "Twenty years is a long time in Parliament, and it's very appropriate that younger people come through and pick up the torch, and continue on," he said.Mr Logan said he was most proud of working on a range of projects which he said had helped the lives of West Australians.
