The spokesperson also revealed Deputy Leader of the Opposition David Southwick had written to the state’s Police Minister Anthony Carbines requesting an “urgent briefing” and called on the Minister to guarantee the safety of Melbourne’s Jewish community. “I am requesting that you guarantee the safety of Melbourne’s Jewish community and clearly outline what steps you and Victoria Police will take to ensure that these radical protestors are not allowed to engage in Nazi-like acts of hate and violence on Melbourne’s streets,” Mr Southwick wrote.
