Steve Price says Melbourne is in the midst of a 'street crime crisis' with a “disturbing' explosion in violent home invasions, the latest involving an elderly couple, 92 and 88, being held down while three 'gutless cowards' searched their house.
Speaking as the guest host of Sky News Australia’s Bolt Report, Price said a “disturbing, dangerous, life-changing crime spree” had “exploded across Australia’s largest city.”
“These crimes in Melbourne are out of control. Sad to say the Victoria Police have lost control of the streets of Melbourne. And I'm not exaggerating.” To illustrate the problem, Price referred to an interview on 3AW earlier on Thursday in which the Victorian Police Commissioner Shane Patton admitted that there had been between eight and nine home invasions in Melbourne, in the last night alone.“If you think I'm exaggerating. Police have made 190 arrests for aggravated burglary in the past 11 weeks in metropolitan Melbourne. That's 20 home invasions a week.“That is, to put it mildly, a street crime crisis.
