Adult survivors who do not wish to speak to police or go through the legal process are able to make an anonymous report without a formal investigation commencing. 9News

in New South Wales will now be able to provide information to police through a new online portal.

Adult survivors who do not wish to speak to police about their experience or go through the legal process are able to make a report without a formal investigation commencing. NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said the update was an important step forward to help survivors retain control over their level of contact with police, with new tools making the process more accessible to different members of the community.

Webb said sexual violence is under-reported and that police hope providing alternative reporting options will help officers better help victims and "hold offenders accountable". "I didn't come forward for almost a decade so if I had this platform I could have reported it and come back to it later."It gives us the opportunity to take back something that was taken from us, to reclaim our narratives."
