New South Wales and Victoria are set to provide every child an additional year of free learning, as part of a multi-billion dollar education reform announced today. READ MORE: 9News
The move, jointly announced by the state governments, is the biggest education reform in a generation.
The four-year-old kinder year will be renamed 'pre-prep', with every Victorian four-year-old child qualifying for 30 hours a week of free schooling, up from the current 15 hours. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the changes would change the lives of men, women and children, while having a very positive impact on the economy.
"You're not so much working for your family as you are working for the Australian Tax Office," he said."It's about women being able to have choices."
