Victoria has recorded 55 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths in the past 24 hours, as Premier Daniel Andrews says restrictions are having 'considerable success'.
Tuesday's new case numbers mark a slight increase on Monday, when 41 cases and nine deaths were recorded.
It comes after Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday defended Victoria's roadmap out of coronavirus restrictions in the face of fierce criticism, saying the state government's measures are having"considerable success". It was announced on Sunday that Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne would be extended by at least two weeks under the roadmap.
"We have having considerable success ... we are bringing a sense of control to this," Mr Andrews said.
