Victoria’s locally acquired cases reported on Thursday have fallen to seven with one mystery infection yet to be linked back to the state’s outbreak as the vaccine rollout picks up speed.
All but the one mystery case have been linked back to the state’s outbreak and were isolating while infectious.
He described the rollout effort as a “strong” result alongside high PCR testing figures with 42,000 processed in the last 24 hours. The centre has been closed for cleaning with colleagues ordered to quarantine as pathology teams work to uncover whether any positive cases attended the site. He revealed the case had worked at least two days while infectious and developed symptoms on Monday evening before receiving a test the following day.
