Victoria has recorded 11 new local coronavirus cases, including two infections at an aged care facility which were announced yesterday.after a resident and a nurse tested positive to COVID-19 on Sunday."Arcare is saddened to advise that we have two new cases of COVID-19 at our Maidstone residence," a statement from the facility read."The second is an agency registered nurse who last worked at the residence yesterday.
"It's important to know out of every positive case identified in quarantine all around the country there are efforts to identify the barcode," she said. "Most of the new infections that have been identified over the weekend were related to people that are already in quarantine or had a connection with where a positive case had been.However, the mystery Delta cases could jeopardise hopes of ending the lockdown this week, Australian Medical Association president Dr Omar Khorshid warned."That is probably the only thing that would stop this lockdown starting to ease at the end of the two-week period.
Deputy Chief Health Officer Allen Cheng said there were still more than 6000 primary close contacts in isolation, but almost 2000 were due to be released yesterday.
