BREAKING: Victoria has recorded 30 new cases of COVID-19 and a McDonald’s restaurant in Mill Park has closed after a worker tested positive to the virus.

Victoria has recorded 30 new cases of COVID-19, Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Annaliese van Diemen announced on Friday morning, including seven linked to known outbreaks, five in hotel quarantine, five from routine testing and 13 that are under investigation.

Authorities say they are not “taking any chances” after two cases were detected at the Coles Laverton distribution centre. Dr van Diemen said one of those cases was linked to a very large outbreak in Keilor Downs. This case had been linked to St Monica’s College in Epping, but Dr van Diemen said it appeared to have stemmed from a number of "household parties and gatherings” in Wollert.Credit:The fast-food outlet on Plenty Road also borders a number of Melbourne’s identified COVID-19 hotspots in Melbourne's north, including Reservoir and Fawkner.

It is one of a string of infections linked to McDonald's restaurants in Melbourne. A cluster at Fawkner McDonald's, also in Melbourne's north, was linked to at least a dozen infections last month. In that case, the restaurant was not immediately closed.
