Victoria has recorded its biggest COVID case increase in four days and multiple more deaths. 7NEWS
As of Tuesday night there were a total of 37 cases of Omicron in the state with 23 acquiring the variant overseas and 14 in Australia.
There were 1245 cases recorded on Tuesday in Victoria, 1302 on Monday, 1240 on Sunday and 1504 on Saturday.Prime Minister Scott Morrison will meet state and territory leaders for an emergency National Cabinet meeting, amid rising COVID-19 cases across the country. It’s understood state and territory leaders will discuss implementing an indoor mask mandate and the prime minister will use the meeting to advise premiers not to introduce heavy-handed restriction.
“Omicron is in Australia, the idea that you’re going to suppress it any extreme level, or you’re going to eliminate it, that’s nonsense, that’s not going to happen,” he told“We have to live with it, and we have to just stay calm, follow good common sense behaviours and get boosted.”Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will briefly come off leave to attend National Cabinet and Deputy Premier James Merlino will take over after.
