Kerri Judd KC, who will leave her role as prosecutions director to become a Supreme Court justice, says her office has always worked to present each case with 'scrupulous fairness'.

She was involved in some of Victoria's most high-profile cases, including the prosecution of Cardinal George Pell and Bourke Street killer James Gargasoulas, as well as heading the OPP during the Lawyer X fallout.Victoria's Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd has resigned after being appointed as a justice of the Supreme Court .

Mr Kissane described Ms Judd's Supreme Court appointment as "a testament to the esteem she is held in" across Victoria's justice system. Over the next three decades, Ms Judd was involved with some of the state's most high-profile cases — from the prosecution of Australia's most senior Catholic George Pell to the conviction of Bourke Street killer James Gargasoulas.She also appeared for the state in the royal commissions into institutional child sexual abuse and the Black Saturday bushfires before taking on the role of DPP in 2018.

"I hope and trust you know that every decision I've made as DPP, and indeed as Acting Chief Crown Prosecutor and Senior Crown Prosecutor before that, was arrived at without ever losing sight of what our distinct role demands — which is not to win for winning's sake, but rather to present every case with scrupulous fairness.
