Clare Looker says test results have confirmed Victoria's legionnaires' disease outbreak has been contained and the peak of infections has passed.

Victoria's chief health officer has confirmed that all cases in a current outbreak of legionnaires' disease in Melbourne are linked to one location — a cooling tower .Though the cases have continued to climb, and some new cases may continue to be detected, authorities say they're all linked to the same outbreak and will taper off.

"I can confirm that those sequences are all very closely related genomically and in fact form one single genomic cluster," Dr Looker said. Dr Looker said the total number of legionnaires' cases linked to the outbreak was 107, up from 100 reported on Thursday.
