Petrol stations in Victoria will be forced to lock in their prices for 24 hours under a new Labor Government initiative aimed at combating the high cost of living. The Fair Fuel Plan was announced by Premier Jacinta Allan and Consumer Affairs Minister Nick Staikos at Victoria University’s campus in Werribee ahead of the district’s upcoming by-election.
Victorian government announces a landmark cap on fuel prices Under the plan, described by the government as a “cost-of-living shake-up”, fuel retailers across the state will have to publicly report their fuel price changes the day before they come into effect. This price will be reflected on a new “fuel finder” feature on the Service Victoria app, making it easier for motorists to scope out where to get the best deal.
