A Victorian mother-of-five has allegedly been murdered by her partner in a case that has shocked the community. Ian Butler allegedly stabbed his partner, Rebecca Young, to death at their Ballarat home on Friday about 9pm before taking his own life — the crime unfolding while two of the woman’s children were at home.
Ballarat in mourning over the shock death of a mother in a murder suicide. Butler was associated with the Banditos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang and called himself ‘Sheriff’. It is believed that he stabbed Young, 42, to death at their home on Morgan St in Sebastopol — in Ballarat’s southern fringe. It is understood the 55-year-old then took his own life. Four other people were at the house, including two of Young’s teenage sons. The boys were looked after by neighbours until relatives arrived.
