Jace Noakes, an 8-year-old boy from Ballarat, Victoria, almost died after a sudden brain haemorrhage caused by a ruptured cluster of blood vessels in his brain. His mother, Kylee Noakes, shares her harrowing experience and urges parents to trust their instincts.
A Victorian mother says parents should trust their instincts after her young boy almost died during a sudden medical emergency that struck without warning. Jace Noakes, 8, collapsed at their Ballarat home, 115km northwest of Melbourne, on August 15 when a cluster of tangled blood vessels in his brain ruptured, causing a haemorrhage.
If surgeons didn’t operate when they did, he would have died,” she said. The cerebellum is responsible for muscle movement regulation and balance. Noakes, the youngest of four siblings, remains in hospital where he is re-learning to walk, talk and eat again. His mother says he is making good ground, has all his wits about him and has lost none of his comprehension, temperament or personality.
